Pegasus Elite Aviation Wins Friendly Flyer Award for Second Consecutive Year
We’re honored to share that Pegasus Elite Aviation, our private charter company and proud member of the Prima Air family, has once again been recognized with the Friendly Flyer Award by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) for our operational performance at Van Nuys Airport (VNY). This marks our second consecutive year receiving this distinction.
The Friendly Flyer Award is an annual recognition presented to jet operators who consistently follow Van Nuys Airport’s noise abatement initiatives. This recognition reflects LAWA’s ongoing efforts to reduce noise pollution and promote more sustainable practices in business aviation—and we’re proud to do our part.
We’re one of several operators acknowledged this year for meeting or exceeding the standards set by LAWA’s Fly Friendly/Quiet Departure Program, which has been in place since 1994. This initiative was developed in response to community concerns about jet aircraft noise. It promotes responsible flight procedures, including avoiding early turns after takeoff and using quiet departure techniques to reduce the impact on nearby neighborhoods.
Since 2012, the Friendly Flyer Award has served as a way for LAWA to highlight operators demonstrating strong voluntary compliance. In 2021, the program expanded to include the Quieter Nights Program, encouraging operators like us to reduce noise during overnight hours and be even more mindful of community well-being.
While noise mitigation remains a challenge across the aviation industry, we continue to actively participate in local compliance programs and routinely review our procedures to ensure they align with LAWA’s standards.
For us, this award is more than a recognition of compliance—it’s a reminder of the role we play in balancing growth in business aviation with environmental responsibility and community care.
As one of the busiest general aviation airports in the world, Van Nuys Airport plays a key role in Southern California’s aviation landscape—especially for private and charter operators. Its proximity to residential neighborhoods makes noise management a shared priority, and we’re committed to working alongside airport officials and fellow operators to find solutions that support both operational excellence and quality of life.
